West Ham United want to sign Lille starlet Angel Gomes this summer after watching him for several months, according to The Boot Room.
Writing on their website (14 May), the news outlet report that the former Manchester United academy graduate is a target for a number of clubs in the Premier League and across Europe after his excellent form in Ligue 1 this season.
The 23-year-old has registered eight assists this season, more than anyone else at the club, and while the French club look to tie him down to a new deal the interest in the playmaker could make it difficult for them to hold on to him this summer.

Gomes was one of the standouts in the Manchester United academy who made the breakthrough into the starting lineup, becoming the youngest player to do so since 1953’s Duncan Edwards.
But due to doubts about playing for the first team, he departed on a free transfer and moved to France, where he has established himself as a crucial member of the squad that is just one victory away from playing in the Champions League the next season.
Attacking reinforcements are required because Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals have already left the team and because the futures of Maxwel Cornet, Danny Ings, Michail Antonio, and Lucas Paqueta are all up in the air.
Gomes wouldn’t likely cost an arm and a leg, and he wouldn’t have a hard time adjusting either given his familiarity with the English game.
It would be interesting to watch how things develop if Julen Lopetegui is interested in him, as this will put pressure on the club to close a deal swiftly given the competition for his signing.
