Walyalup’s High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said the Club took the conservative approach not playing ruckman Sean Darcy on the weekend but is confident the big man will be available for the clash with Euro-Yroke (St Kilda) on Saturday.
“Sean missed (on the weekend), we didn’t quite get him to the line,” Merriman said.
“He’s had a running session since then and all is going well.
“We plan to get him into main training and is a test to play this week.”
Versatile forward Sam Sturt missed Peel Thunder’s 19-point win over Swan Districts at the weekend due to a knee concern.
“Sam just had a little flare up of his knee at main training last week,” Merriman said.
“We tried to get him up for the game, but all is going well for him to be available for selection this week.”

Young winger Nathan O’Driscoll’s frustrating run with a knee injury has continued, with Merriman stating that establishing a timeline for his return wouldn’t be far away.
“He’s having no luck Dris,” Merriman said.
“He’s had his procedure (on his knee) done and a timeline for his return will be set in the coming week.”
Meanwhile, fellow winger Ethan Stanley has had his timeline confirmed following a visit with specialists in Melbourne last week.
“The plan for Ethan is four weeks with his syndesmosis injury,” Merriman said.
“He’s back (from Melbourne) and will start gradually running towards the end of the week.”
In positive news, Brennan Cox’s hamstring rehabilitation continues to progress strongly, with the defender now just over a month away from making a return.
“He’s (Cox) going well,” Merriman said.
“He was on the hills doing his sort of mini preseason this morning, and he’s running up to about eight kilometres at pretty close to 80 per cent.
“All is looking well for Brennan.”
Draftee Odin Jones and NGA graduate Conrad Williams will both benefit from a bye in the WAFL, providing an extra week for them to prove their fitness.
“They are both strong chances to be available, unfortunately it falls on a WAFL bye with the state games but both are looking like they will be clear to play,” Merriman said.
