Sad News For Aerosmith: Steven Tyler Part Ways With Aerosmith Due To…….

Steven Tyler is still in the process of healing and offered a brief update on how he’s recovering from his vocal cord injury.

Steven Tyler's vocal injury postpones more Aerosmith shows - Los Angeles Times

The Aerosmith frontman wrote via social media, “Throat’s on the mend, but my ears still work! So, in the meantime, it’s studio time. Starting re-mixing Aerosmith Aerosmith.”

Back in September, Aerosmith postponed a handful of dates on their farewell tour. At the time, it was revealed Tyler suffered vocal cord damage that led to “subsequent bleeding.” Doctors also instructed him to go on vocal rest and not sing for 30 days.

Weeks later, Aerosmith postponed their entire farewell tour until 2024 due to issues related to Tyler’s vocal cord injury.

The band shared in a statement, “Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.”

The band noted, “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

Tyler added in his own personal statement, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

As for Tyler mentioning “re-mixing Aerosmith Aerosmith,” it sounds like a reissue of the band’s self-titled debut album could be in the works. This could be part of their catalog and archive deal with Universal Music Group (UMG), which was announced in August 2021.

The catalog deal officially kicked in at the beginning of 2022. UMG noted at the time, “In addition to supporting the band’s consolidated catalog, this partnership will also make use of unprecedented access to the storied ‘Vindaloo Vaults’ and personal archives of band members Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford, who will actively help curate their collections of music, photos, video footage, artwork, journals, set lists and memorabilia. Future releases will offer fans access to never–before seen and heard gems, that will further cement the band’s position as one of rock’s most ground-breaking and reverential groups in history.

It’s a dirty pun, get it?! (Would it really be a proper Aerosmith ranking without kicking things off with some crude humor?) It also wouldn’t be a proper Aerosmith ranking without pointing out the dynamic guitar work of Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. “Lord of the Thighs” is the first of many examples of that on this list.
