Further complicating things is massive substance abuse by band members. For former Guns ‘N Roses drummer, Steven Adler, his demons were a one-way ticket out of GNR.

Steven Adler Fell On Tough Times After Being Fired From Guns ‘N Roses
If you’re too out of control for what was dubbed “The Most Dangerous Band in the World,” then you know that your demons are on another level. Sadly, this was the case for drummer, Steven Adler, who rose to fame while blasting away with Guns ‘N Roses.
The saga began with Adler’s expulsion from Guns N’ Roses, a band that defined the late ’80s and early ’90s rock scene. According to reports from Grunge, his exit was primarily due to struggles with substance abuse, which affected his ability to perform consistently. Guns N’ Roses, known for their electrifying live shows, couldn’t afford to compromise on the rhythm that was the heartbeat of their music.
The site notes that guitarist, Slash, dished on a specific infamous moment in his autobiography.
“We took [Adler] to Indiana, to play Farm Aid, and he jumps on the drum riser and almost breaks his f***ing neck.” Slash said.
The site also notes that, “Adler’s theory, in his own book, is that “they wanted me to f*** up on live TV.'”
Soon enough, Adler was gone.
Post-Guns N’ Roses, Steven Adler embarked on a journey of recovery and redemption. He didn’t let the setback define him; instead, he used it as a stepping stone to rebuild his life and career. According to an insightful piece on Yahoo, Adler underwent rehabilitation to overcome his substance abuse issues. Steven Adler’s post-Guns N’ Roses career was about focusing on creating new music and not spending time in his former band’s shadow. He formed a band called Adler’s Appetite, and was banging away on the drumsl like his career never missed a beat. The band performed Guns N’ Roses classics, which fans thoroughly enjoyed hearing.
Adler would also turn his attention to reality TV later in his career. The drummer appeared on Celebrity Rehab. This was followed by an appearance on Sober House, showing that his reality TV time was all about recovery.
