Celtic icon Scott Brown decides on management future as Ayr United release amusing statement
Celtic hero Scott Brown’s name had entered media circles in recent days, and at one point, it looked possible he could be in the St Johnstone dugout tomorrow.
The Bhoys travel to Perth keen on keeping their Scottish Premiership start intact, but Andy Kirk will now be in the home dugout as Saints try to recruit a manager after Craig Levein’s departure last week.
Brown had been identified as a leading candidate for the St Johnstone vacancy. After careful consideration, he decided to stay put in Ayrshire as he aims to bring the Honest Men to the top flight for the first time since 1978.
Late attempts from owner Adam Webb couldn’t change his mind, and the former Celtic captain has opted to stay on a stable footing rather than making a swift jump to top-flight football.
Since then, further developments have now taken place as Brown’s name continues to be brought up after a chaotic week surrounding his future.
Ayr United evoke Wolf of Wall Street spirit in statement
Per Ayr United’s official website, Brown has committed terms on a new contract at the Honest Men until the summer of 2027, as the club released a short statement confirming the extension.
It read in full: “Ayr United can confirm that Scott Brown & Steven Whittaker have signed extended contracts at Somerset Park until 2027.”

Brilliantly, Ayr reinvented the Wolf of Wall Street ‘I’m not leaving’ scene in the statement’s background with a picture of Brown’s face instead of Leonardo Di Caprio, so kudos to whoever behind the scenes decided to add a bit of humour!
Joking aside, Brown is in it for the long haul at Somerset Park and having some stability regarding his future can only bode well.

Transitioning from being a leader on the pitch, Brown’s expertise has been put to use in the dugout at Ayr, where he has guided his side to the top of the Scottish second tier.
Of course, it is the early days of this campaign, but the prospect of potential silverware or promotion is something bound to help the former Celtic captain with his future job prospects.
Hopefully, he can continue to thrive and find himself linked with plenty of managerial vacancies as he accelerates up the coaching ladder.
