Kaizer Chiefs at risk of losing these FOUR transfer targets to rivals

Kaizer Chiefs are linked with an array of Africa’s best players, who are also being monitored by PSL rivals.

Kaizer Chiefs silenced the critics on Wednesday, beating Richards Bay 2-1.

In a season that seems to fluctuate like the ocean tides, Nasreddine Nabi went from hot to cold, winning his opening two league games before failing to win the next three.

They’ve experienced a similar wobble in the Nedbank Cup, dismantling SuperSport United 4-0 in the first round before conceding the same amount in the quarter-finals against the mighty Mamelodi Sundowns, who they had narrowly lost 2-1 to three weeks prior.

    What targets are under threat?

Following seven signings during the offseason, including Inacio Miguel and Gastón Sirino, Kaizer Chiefs seem eager to welcome more.

It could have easily been nine as they were inches away from signing Asenele Velebayi and Oswin Appollis – both players had agreed to move but their clubs blocked it from happening.

AmaKhosi management will reportedly try again in the January transfer window; however, this time, it will be easier to lure the clubs than the players.

Bitter rivals and current league leaders, Orlando Pirates, are frontrunners to poach both the Bafana stars.

“Appollis is a player that any top team would like to have in its squad, and the club (Pirates) is no exception. It’s possible for the deal to happen, although it may not necessarily be now (in January),” an anonymous source confirmed.

Polokwane right-back Thabang Matuludi is another Kaizer Chiefs prospect being headhunted by the Buccaneers, who, again, are favoured to land the 25-year-old.

Then there’s the transfer ongoings of Tanzanian midfielder Feisel Salum, a player Kaizer Chiefs value highly – and are willing to offer him a R222,000-per-week contract – however, he looks likely to sign a contract extension with current club Azam FC.
