Oswin Appollis finds himself in a bidding war
Kaizer Chiefs transfer talks are hitting a plateau with many superstars on the fence whether they’re coming or going.
Kaizer Chiefs are back in business following their 2-1 victory over Richards Bay on Wednesday, promoting them to seventh on the log.
Their transfer negotiations, however, have gone sour, with multiple top targets being poached by rivals while others are signing contract extensions with their current clubs – Tanzanian International and AmaKhosi prospect Feisal Salum seems to be doing the latter.
Salum deal off?
The 26-year-old midfielder is one of Africa’s hottest properties with Kaizer Chiefs, who are reportedly willing to offer him a R222,000-per-week contract, and Simba SC after his services.
In a bid to keep him, Azam FC has begun discussions regarding a lucrative contract extension, keeping him at the club for the foreseeable future; Salum seems likely to stay with the Tanzanian giants.
Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates have entered the race for the signature of Bafana winger Oswin Appollis – another top target of Kaizer Chiefs.
The Polokwane playmaker has elevated his game this season, causing a transfer frenzy that the Sea Robbers – who are now favourites to sign him – look most likely to tame.
According to Soccer Laduma, the Buccaneers have a greater rapport with Polokwane City chairman and strict negotiator Johnny Mogaladi, putting them in the driver’s seat for getting Appollis to Soweto.
“Appollis is a player that any top team would like to have in its squad, and the club (Pirates) is no exception,” said the source. “It’s possible for the deal to happen, although it may not necessarily be now (in January),” the anonymous source confirmed.
“Anything can still happen as we are talking about an exceptional player who is in demand here. Remember that there was talk of him attracting interest from elsewhere in Africa as well, and therefore you can expect a surprise on who Polokwane will decide to sell to when they do.
