Kaizer Chiefs legend Lifa Gqosha says Amakhosi need a player like Oswin Appollis who is not an afraid to take responsibility.
He believes the current players in Nasreddine Nabi’s squad lack “commitment and belief” within themselves.
Gqosha feels the team that many commended at the start of the season, has yet to gel together.

“What is lacking among the current Kaizer Chiefs players is commitment. They need to believe in themselves
You need a player who is not afraid to take responsibility. Right now, the players seem very apprehensive. There is too much passing around, and nobody wants to step up.
“For the team to gel, you need someone who will come with a different mindset, someone who will use the Kaizer Chiefs platform to prove themselves.”
Gqosha says if he was in power to make decisions at Chiefs, he would have broken the back to bring Bafana Bafana and Polokwane City star Appollis to Naturena.
They are hesitant to take matters into their own hands because past failures are affecting their confidence moving forward,” he added.
“That’s why you need players like Appollis. There are many quality players in the PSL right now. If I were in charge at Chiefs, I would break the bank for Appollis.
“I would pay even R12 million to bring him on board.”

Coach Nasreddine Nabi has shown his trusted wingers such as Wandile Duba, Gastin Sirino, Pule Mmodi and Mfundo Vilakazi. With just seven goals in 54 appearances, the 25-year-old Saile will be deemed surplus to requirements by coach Nasreddine Nabi and his Amakhosi technical team.
“They have tried to give him a chance and be patient with him, but they are not getting the returns they expected from him,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
“Yes, it’s true there have been clubs who have shown interest in him but things are not coming together.
“And the team is looking to get another striker and a winger, the two positions which Saile can play. The plan is now to release him and create that space for players to come in.
A second source said, “They have looked at all angles, including how much the club is spending already. If they are to bring in more players while there are players who are not really playing or performing, it will balloon the salary bill, and they are avoiding that.
“So letting Saile go is one way of cutting on the costs at the club hence even the loan deal could be out but releasing him seems to be the right solution.”

Gaston Sirino‘s move to Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs is reportedly not going as planned.
According to reports, the club have told the Uruguayan attacker to sort out his behaviour off the pitch, or he risks getting his contract torn up.
Soccer Laduma reported earlier this week that the 33-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns star has often “faked injuries” and refused to take part in training.
According to a source quoted by the publication, Sirino, who was involved in five of Sundowns’ seven consecutive league title wins, told medical staff that he did not join Kaizer Chiefs to train.
His behaviour has frustrated head coach Nasreddine Nabi and club management. This has led the club to consider drastic measures, such as terminating his contract should he not show any improvement in his behaviour.
Sirino made a brilliant start to his life at Chiefs since moving from Sundowns. Earlier in the season, he was a creative spark in midfield, and contributed with a number of goals and assists as the club adapted well to new coach Nabi.
However, over the last couple of games, he has either been left out completely, or started on the bench, which has left Chiefs fans baffled.
Sirino has a South African passport, and earlier in the season, his form for Chiefs led to fans speculating he would be called up by Hugo Broos to represent Bafana Bafana. Broos, though, has often pointed to his age as a stumbling block.
Kaizer Chiefs will be next in action on Sunday when they travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane to take on Polokwane City.
