Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart was likely wearing kelly green during Super Bowl Sunday. While Georgia had players on both the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs rosters, Philly has a strong track record of targeting former Dawgs in recent drafts. Former Georgia players like Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith and Kelee Ringo played key roles in the Eagles winning the Super Bowl. Ex-Georgia wideout Mecole Hardman was also on the Chiefs roster. As On3.com’s Andy Staples noted, the Super Bowl became a massive recruiting video for Smart and the Bulldogs. Georgia is taking full advantage of the Eagles’ victory by making several social media posts with the former Dawgs who are now Super Bowl champs. The Bulldogs official football account on X dropped a highlight video featuring former Bulldogs players winning both the national championship and Super Bowl. “Success at every level,” Georgia posted from the team’s football account on Monday.

Another post showed the former Dawgs celebrating the Super Bowl victory. “Our guys soaking it all in…,” Georgia said in a subsequent X post on Monday.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman drafted five players from the Bulldogs national title teams in 2021 and 2022, per USA Today. Roseman explained what it was about these former Georgia players that had appeal to the front office.

“We were in position to draft really good players from the Georgia defense,” Roseman noted, per USA Today’s Nate Davis. “These Georgia guys had chemistry, and it really helped that you don’t have all these guys from different schools who don’t have relationships. “They already had that created – obviously from a historically great defense – and it just kind of worked out that they were able to play together.”
