Sunderland face a huge test of their promotion credentials when they face Leeds United on Monday night

It’s a huge night in the promotion race on Monday as Sunderland travel to face a Leeds United side in exceptional form.

Both Régis Le Bris and Daniel Farke have some injury concerns ahead of the game – here’s the team news from both camps as we have it at this stage….

    1. Ian Poveda – available

Poveda was absent on Wednesday night due to what Le Bris called an internal matter. It wasn’t thought to be a major breach and so the winger is expected to return to the squad on Monday night as things stand.

    6. Tommy Watson – out

Is around a week behind Mundle in his recovery, and so expected back in full training towards the end of this week. Will be back in contention to play by the end of the month. | Sunderland player Tommy Watson

    7. Jayden Danns – out

Danns’ medical at Sunderland unearthed a back injury that will require a period of rest before he returns to training and joins his new team mates on Wearside. At this stage a return date is not known but he’ll be absent for a couple of weeks at the very least.

    8. Ahmed Abdullahi – out

Abdullahi is back playing and training but Sunderland are managing his recovery from groin surgery carefully. Scored a hat-trick in midweek and could come into contention once he gets through a full U21s game. So Monday will likely come too soon but should be available after that.

    9. Jenson Seelt – available

Poveda’s surprise absence cleared the way for Seelt to return to return to the squad for the first time in 11 months on Monday night. It might be that Sunderland opt to give him another full game in the U21s on Monday night instead of travelling to Leeds – if its felt he isn’t needed as cover just yet.
