Elsewhere, they claim that West Ham, Ipswich and Southampton have identified the player as a ‘potential recruit’. Of course, a move to the Hammers would be the most controversial given Millwall’s bitter rivalry with the club.

This is not ideal news for Millwall, but the reality is that Tanganga is a quality player, so he was always going to attract attention from Premier League clubs.

He has the physical tools to cope with the demands of the top-flight, and his positional play, reading of the game and his recovery pace has all been evident with Millwall, where he has emerged as their top defender.

So, even though the Premier League is a step-up, it’s one you would expect Tanganga to handle, and he obviously has experience at that level from earlier in his career.

From Millwall’s perspective, it’s about enjoying Tanganga whilst he is at the club, and if this interest does result in formal offers for the player, it’s something to discuss in the summer.

But, Millwall will be in a position to demand a big sum for the centre-back, and if the right offer does arrive, it will be about reinvesting the funds brought in to improve the squad as a whole.
