Tottenham ‘interested’ in Argentina international midfielder

This summer, the Spurs board are going to have to invest in the squad, with a clear need for more quality if the club wants to compete for European qualification on a consistent basis.

Plenty of players have been linked ahead of the summer already, and one of the latest is Argentina international Nico Paz.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder came through the ranks at Real Madrid but is now with Italian club Como.

Since arriving in the summer, the young attacker has scored six and assisted five in 24 games in Serie A, and he is attracting attention for his performances. Paz also won his first senior cap for Argentina this season.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in a deal, but it’s Real Madrid who hold the trump card currently,

holding a buy-back option in Paz’s contract. It’s unclear how much Como would ask for to sell Paz after they landed him for just £5million last summer, while it’s also unclear how much Tottenham would be willing to pay given Paz’s best position would most likely mean he would become James Maddison’s back-up, albeit he can also play out wide.

Tottenham need depth across the front line, with Timo Werner likely to be sent back to RB Leipzig despite there being an option to buy in the German’s loan deal.

Spurs are going to need an alternative option to Dominic Solanke having been left short by the Englishman’s injury issues this season. The good news is that star man Heung-min Son is tied down until 2026.
