Prince William paid a visit to Aston Villa training ground Bodymoor Heath on Tuesday ahead of Unai Emery men’s Champions League second-leg clash with Club Brugge.

Villa go into the second leg at Villa Park 3-1 up after an emphatic win in Belgium last week. Leon Bailey and Marco Asensio were both on the scoresheet with Brandon Mechele putting the ball into his own net.

    ‌

It puts Villa in pole position to qualify for the quarter-final, where they’ll face Paris Saint-Germain. Ahead of the game, the Villa players were treated to a visit from Prince William.

    ‌

During an official engagement at a referee training course in Willenhall, the Prince of Wales was pictured with a number of players ahead of the visit of Club Brugge. Images on Kensington Palace’s social media showed him with Morgan Rogers and Matty Cash.

    ‌

There was also an image of him alongside president of football operations, Monchi, and director of football operations, Damian Vidagany as the three watched one of Unai Emery’s training sessions. The post read: “Great to pop in to see @‌avfcofficial yesterday ahead of tonight’s Champions League game! Up the Villa!”

The visit comes after William, a passionate Villa fan, joined fans for a pint in a Birmingham Wetherspoons before a match in January. Having attended the games with Bayern Munich and Celtic, William is expected to be in attendance at Villa Park tonight.

During his meeting with Villa fans in January, prior to the 1-0 win over Everton, it’s understood the future king revealed he uses a ‘secret name’ online to follow the news and transfer gossip involving the club on fan forums.
