    Ange Postecoglou reflects on Tottenham’s

Tottenham Hotspur fell to yet another Premier League defeat, this time at the hands of Fulham on Sunday at Craven Cottage.

Second-half goals from Rodrigo Muniz and former Spurs man Ryan Sessegnon were enough to pile more misery on Ange Postecoglou, who was livid that his side were not awarded a penalty in the second half. This was the Lilywhites’ 15th Premier League defeat of the season – only the bottom four sides have lost more games.

For the umpteenth time this campaign, Tottenham were defensively poor and allowed Marco Silva’s side to take 13 shots on the day. The home side even dominated the possession, and after knocking on the door for some time, the Cottagers ultimately got the job done.

The mood at N17 is grim, and the pressure continues to mount on Ange Postecoglou, who can count himself fortunate to still be in the job given the regression of his side.

After the game on Sunday, the Australian tactician stated it has been a difficult campaign and his Tottenham side have lost too many games for his liking.

“It’s been a difficult campaign for sure. But I feel we’ve lost too many games that we should have got stuff out of, and this was one of those games,” Postecoglou told BBC Match of the Day (h/t BBC Sport.

“It’s another international break, we go into off a loss and you feel that. We just need to make sure we’re ready for when we come back.”

Tottenham’s biggest problem this season has been the chronic inconsistency. Postecoglou and Co. have barely managed to get any sort of momentum, and while to some extent the injury crisis can be deemed as a factor, it just cannot be used as a shield every time to protect a bad day in the office.

The mood and spirits were high going into the game at Fulham. Spurs managed to beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 on Thursday (win 3-2 on aggregate) to punch their ticket to the last eight of the Europa League.

The North Londoners were full value of their win, with Wilson Odobert being the difference-maker. It was a perfect response to the first-leg defeat in the Netherlands, and by winning the second leg, Ange’s side have set up a meeting with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt next month.

The fans had hoped to watch the team build some momentum and head into the international break all smiles.

However, that has not been the case as the team disappointed on Sunday with their lack of fight, organisation and cohesion.

Ange and his coaching staff have to return to the drawing board during the international break and right the wrongs if they intend to finish the season on a high note.
