There have been plenty of people – both owners and head coaches alike – who have given their support of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ implementation and dominance of the Tush Push.
Probably the most shocking defense came from one of the Eagles‘ biggest rivals over the last two decades.
At the height of his powers, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was one of the best big-play pass catchers in the league. Bryant was a first-team All-Pro at one point in his career and recorded 64 catches for over 900 yards, and nine touchdowns with a 6-7 record to boot.
On Twitter Monday morning, though, it was Bryant who came to the defense of the Eagles use of the Tush Push.
And complained about and ripped on his Cowboys a bit more.
“I’m not the biggest Philadelphia Eagles fan, but trying to ban the tush push is insane,” Bryant said. “On another note, I’m not speaking for clicks, but I respect how the Commanders and Eagles continue to show they want to win. (Which i hate) The Cowboys have all the leverage to build a supreme football team, like what’s really going on?”
League owners are meeting this week to determine whether the Tush Push will be banned or not. In order for the banning proposal to go through, the detractors would need 24 of the 32 votes in favor.
As things stand right now, it doesn’t look like there are enough votes there.
And that may be the lone thing that shows Bryant’s comments in defense of Philly could be something that only pushes back against the ban in the first place.
