The claim that Daniel Levy selected the Tottenham squad that was eliminated by Fulham on Tuesday in the EFL Cup has received a response from Jamie O’Hara.
The inescapable meltdown has started even though it’s still just August. Ange Postecoglou now has a better understanding of what Tottenham is all about, if he didn’t already.
A number of Spurs supporters have turned against the team as a result of the setback to Fulham, which came via a penalty shootout, including the unpopular Daniel Levy.
But according to the former midfielder, who spoke to talkSPORT, “you are going to make changes” because it’s the League Cup and that supporters should support the team’s new manager because he has changed things.
In reference to alterations to the starting XI, former Chelsea player Jason Cundy informed the irate caller that “they all do it” before O’Hara responded to the fan’s astonishing assertion. Spurs ultimately made nine changes as a result of their victory at Bournemouth.
Caller from Spurs: “I spoke to you last season, immediately following our defeat by Sheffield United, and you criticized Conte for fielding a depleted squad in the FA Cup. Daniel Levy has nothing to do with deciding which side to support, you claimed.
“Well, I can tell you right now that Daniel Levy chose today’s team once more because, unlike what you may think, Daniel just wants the top four from every manager. He only wants it. A League Cup or FA Cup victory means nothing to him. He’s aiming for the top four. Pochettino doesn’t play at his best because of this. Consequently, Mourinho doesn’t.
O’Hara answered, “At the end of the day, you are going to make changes in the Carabao Cup.” It’s just that our backup players aren’t up to par. There is deadwood in the area.
“I know, but you have to get behind the manager,” the Spurs board member responded to criticism.
Will things ever change with Levy in charge?
Many of the things Spurs supporters say can be repeated year after year, which seems to be the problem.
It doesn’t matter who is in charge—Postecoglou, Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, or Fabio Paratici—as long as the transfer front is handled.
Levy, though, has been steady at Spurs throughout the years despite the fact that many other things have changed. This may mean that the sooner he departs, the better it will be for the club’s long-term prospects.
