After daring to question his manager’s honesty on social media, Jadon Sancho faces a formidable challenge in trying to win Erik ten Hag over and save his Manchester United career.

After a protracted search, the winger transferred to United from Borussia Dortmund two summers ago for £73 million. Nevertheless, despite his outstanding performance for BVB in the Bundesliga, the 23-year-old has rarely displayed the kind of form that convinced United to fork over the kind of money that still ranks sixth among their all-time top 10 record purchases.

Sancho will have hoped the 2023–24 season would have given him a fresh start, especially after Ten Hag sent him on a personal training camp to the Netherlands last season and he was mostly in and out of his manager’s plans.

However, Sancho was not even on the roster when United lost to Arsenal 3-1 after being used as a substitute in the first three games of the season.

Ten Hag told the media after the player was fired that he had been passed over because of his failure to perform at the required level during practice.

Despite this, the winger made it apparent that he disagreed with his manager’s assertions, hinting on social media that Ten Hag was not being genuine about his absence.

Don’t take everything you read at face value, please! Sancho said on X, “I won’t stand for individuals to utter things that are absolutely false. “This week, I behaved admirably during training. Although I won’t discuss them here, I think there are further explanations for this issue.

Jadon Sancho and Ten Hag at Man Utd loggerheads

The statement continued: “All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and [I’m] grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”

With Sancho letting his emotions get the better of him, the Daily Telegraph claims Ten Hag has been left ‘stunned’ by Sancho’s response.

Indeed, Sancho’s use of the word “scapegoat” has apparently not been taken too well by the Red Devils boss. The report claims the Dutchman feels he has gone out of his way to give the player’s United career a number of kickstarts and his response to his dropping has not gone down well with the boss.

Sources have told the Telegraph that Ten Hag feels ‘bitterly disappointed’ by his reaction overall. The report also claims that, as a result of the falling out, the 23-times capped England winger is now battling to save his career at Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen if Sancho will offer an apology to his manager as a result of the outburst.

But in the meantime, he may face disciplinary actions, not unlike the punishment that befell Cristiano Ronaldo last season when he stormed down the tunnel following his failure to get off the bench in a Premier League game.

The United boss was also absent from training at Carrington on Monday, albeit not that unusual on the first day of the international break, with Sancho going through his paces with other members of United’s coaching staff.

However, there remains a feeling that Sancho may have even kicked his last ball for United as a result of the falling out.

Sancho has transfer options to leave Man Utd

Though the newspaper concedes that no team would be able to match his enormous £250,000 weekly salary, the Turkish transfer window is still open until September 15.

Saudi Arabia has reportedly expressed interest, but relations there have also been downplayed, according to individuals close to the paper.

Additionally, it was reported on Monday that Chelsea and United had talked about loaning out Sergio Reguilon to United in exchange for Sancho’s loan to Marc Cucurella of Spain, a left-back who United had been interested in before choosing.

In either case, the player now has a tough fight on his hands to regain not only Ten Hag’s support but also his spot in the United side. At Old Trafford, he seems to have lost ground behind Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Facundo Pellistri.

Many players in the game have been perplexed by Antony’s selection ahead of Sancho, as suggested by Rio Ferdinand, who also said that Ten Hag gives the Brazilian preferential treatment.

On his Vibe with Five YouTube channel, the former United defender stated: “Sancho, in his defense, I think he is sitting there looking at the areas in which he plays and wondering, ‘How is this guy still playing?'”

Man United leave the door open so Mason Greenwood can come back.

“I guess he’s still there contemplating, Antony, how he’s playing in front of me.He will undoubtedly be contemplating that as he waits.

The same thing is undoubtedly being said by Garnacho. After 84 minutes, Garnacho enters and nearly scores the winning goal. as a result of his threat.

In 82 games for United, Sancho has scored 12 goals and provided six assists.
