Paul Merson claims that about the £39 million Tottenham player, he was completely mistaken.
But this season, the Spurs have silenced all of their naysayers, and some of its players have also been busy doing just that.
Paul Merson has buried his pride and acknowledged in his Sportskeeda blog that he was mistaken about one Tottenham player, acknowledging that his criticism of Pedro Porro was finally validated.
Merson was wrong about Porro
Merson mentioned the defense for Tottenham.
“Even though Destiny Udogie was given a yellow card early on, he was outstanding against Arsenal.” He has been getting better since the start of the season and was exceptional against a player of Bukayo Saka’s caliber. Although Pedro Porro has also been excellent, Merson expressed his belief that he will struggle in the Premier League. While it’s true that Merson miscalculated Porro, there were other commentators who also held grave misgivings about the Spaniard. It appeared as though the defense was unfit for the Premier League the previous season. Under either of his coaches last season, he had very little tactical acumen or defensive prowess.
In fact, a lot of people were content to write Porro off after his disappointing campaign, but he suddenly appears to be among the Premier League’s top full-backs.
Realistically one of Tottenham’s greatest players right now, Porro is quick, astute, and talented in both areas.
That £39 million price has suddenly changed from appearing like a complete rip-off to an incredible deal.
This season, Porro has undergone an incredible metamorphosis.
