A NEW INJURY: RG Snyman, a lock for the Springboks, will be out for a little longer.

The world cup final against the All Blacks resulted in an injury to Munster’s standout lock, the team said in their squad update on Monday.

An announcement from Munster stated, “RG Snyman sustained a chest/shoulder injury during the World Cup Final and will undergo surgery in South Africa this week.”

It was not stated when he will return.

Throughout the past few seasons, Snyman has had numerous significant injuries. He underwent two significant knee surgery when he was a Munster player.

After one of those lengthy lay-offs, he returned to the playing field earlier this year and helped Munster win the United Rugby Championship title before rejoining the Boks ahead of the international season.

    The story continues below…

Calvin Nash was sidelined on Saturday due to a knee ailment; the medical staff will evaluate him.

This week marks the return to full training for Josh Wycherley (neck) and Simon Zebo (foot), who are both eligible to be selected.

Cian Hurley (ankle/achilles), Mike Haley (hip), Andrew Conway (knee), Patrick Campbell (ankle), and Niall Scannell (groin) are the athletes who are still recovering from their injuries.

Ireland’s players include tighthead Tadhg Furlong, back-rower Caelan Doris, hooker Dan Sheehan, and centers Bundee Aki and Garry Ringrose.

The world champions only have one representative, but it’s important to remember that Ireland had won 17 of their previous 18 Test matches, and France had also been in excellent form prior to their one-point World Cup quarterfinal loss to the All Blacks.
