Tottenham fans receive a positive sign regarding James Maddison’s injury

James Maddison’s injury may not be serious, as Coach Gareth Southgate has indicated by adding him to his most recent England team.

Regardless of whether James Maddison is deemed fit or not, Charlie Eccleshare claims that he has been playing through injury and would benefit from a break during the next several weeks.

With his summer transfer from Leicester City to Tottenham Hotspur, Maddison has been nothing short of extraordinary. After making 12 appearances for the Lilywhites this season, the £40 million acquisition has already contributed three goals and five assists (Transfermarkt).

With Ange Postecoglou’s team having an outstanding start to the season, it is the 26-year-old who has been pulling all the strings. The best aspect has been Maddison’s relationship with captain Heung-min Son in particular.

Regretfully, Spurs’ 4-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday night brought everything to a disastrous end. The record of eleven straight games without a loss ended, Maddison seemed to have had an injury, and Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie are now banned.

James Maddison needs a rest amid England call-up

Whether Maddison will play again this weekend in the Saturday afternoon matchup against Wolves is still up in the air.

According to Charlie Eccleshare, the player need to be rested until after the international break and kept out of the starting lineup. Regretfully, it seems like the Tottenham midfield player could be required to report for England duty in any case.

“I was thinking of James Maddison, and as desperate as Spurs will be to have him back for the Wolves game, at least if he doesn’t play he might then get two weeks off from the internationals,” he said on The View from the Lane podcast.

“Additionally, it seems to me that Madison has been carrying a lot of the load for the majority of the season. He has been showing up for the games and making it through, but not much more.”

Although it’s depressing, it’s the truth. Even though it would be wonderful for everyone if Maddison could play on Saturday, Spurs could suffer far more in the long run from that. In order to potentially get Maddison back to his best later on, let’s give him a break, let Lo Celso step in and demonstrate what he can accomplish.
