Reactions from Ange Postecoglou, Pundit and Spurs fans after two late Wolves goals

Pundit, fans and Ange’s Spurs stunned by two stoppage-time Wolves goals

Tottenham was stunned by Wolves’ incredible late performance, which also kept Ange Postecoglou’s team from taking the lead again in the Premier League.

In the Saturday lunchtime kickoff at Molineux, the home team won a thrilling, but well-deserved, 2-1 victory with to goals from Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina in stoppage time.

After the visitors took the lead thanks to an early goal from Brennan Johnson, their first as Spurs, they appeared to be headed for an easy victory at Molineux.

Tottenham rode their luck as Wolves kept letting them off until a spectacular climax led by Sarabia and Lemina.

A difficult week has been experienced by their Australian manager, as Spurs, who was leading the league by two points, have now lost back-to-back games.

After losing Micky van de Ven and James Maddison to injury until January, Spurs experienced their first real hiccup under Postecoglou in their 4-1 loss to Chelsea.

They had more problems before they even got to Molineux due to suspensions for Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, but they came out of the mayhem of Monday with no ill effects and took the lead after only three minutes.

Pedro Porro crossed low for Johnson after Dejan Kulusevski’s endearing drag and flick tricked Rayan Ait-Nouri and Joao Gomes. It was a dreadful performance from Wolves.

After running on Nelson Semedo’s blindside, he tapped in from close range after the defender was caught off guard. The Wales international’s goal against Wolves in April was also his first since then.

The hosts didn’t look stunned at all; in fact, they responded well, forcing Tottenham to play an unnecessarily cautious defense while managing to hold on thanks to Wolves’ constant poor finishing pass.

Guglielmo Vicario was still had to make a good save from Lemina before the midfield player’s header deflected over and Toti Gomes’ shot was collected in stoppage time of the first half.

Following the interval, Wolves continued their aggressive play and had an opportunity to tie the score after 54 minutes, but Hwang Hee-Chan missed it.

Spurs didn’t do much in the absence of primary schemer Maddison, but Wolves’ desperate attempt to tie the score saw Johnson curl wide during a rare break and Giovani Lo Celso come dangerously close to grabbing an undeserved second with two minutes remaining, only to have Jose Sa deny him.

However, Wolves completely changed the course of the match in stoppage time when substitute Sarabia, who had just been on the field for two minutes, gathered Cunha’s clipped pass and brilliantly volleyed an equalizer past Vicario.

Then, in the seventh minute of stoppage time, a fast free kick sent Sarabia scampering, and he managed to find Lemina to turn in and throw Molineux into a frenzy.
