Jamie O’Hara blasts Postecoglou and his team, says he should have used his U23s instead of £30M trio

ANGE POSTECOGLOU URGED TO DROP TOTTENHAM’S £30M TRIO AND PICK THE RESERVES INSTEAD

Ange Postecoglou, in the opinion of the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara, ought to give some promising young players a chance instead of calling up Eric Dier, Ben Davies, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Why would Eric Dier, Ben Davies, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg be considered adequate now if they weren’t previously? Due to the absences of Christian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and James Maddison at Wolves, Ange Postecoglou had to substitute him back into his starting lineup. All three of them contributed to Wolves’ 2-1 victory in stoppage time, chasing shadows as Pablo Sarabia scored the equalizer and set up Mario Lemina’s winner.

Forgotten Tottenham man 'not yet decided' on Mourinho reunion in painstaking decision

Speaking to talkSPORT on November 13, at 11 a.m., O’Hara feels that Postecoglou would have been better served by looking forward rather than dwelling on Spurs’ lackluster history.

Tottenham Hotspur still need a clear out

I’m fond of Ben Davies. A good lad, that is. He is capable of working. Mr. Eric Dier Nevertheless, O’Hara contends that the fans wish to move past that generation of athletes. Thus, the players you are trying to cut must return to the field when we recover from injuries.

A decision needs to be made by the manager. Let Postecoglou say, “I need to try something more new if I lose a couple of players.” One or two guys from the under-23s (try it out). The same outcome can be obtained by returning to Dier and Davies.

It would be preferable for me to lose to Wolves with a U23 player and admit that he is at least passably good. It went well for (Postecoglou). Playing Dier, Hojbjerg, and Davies.”

    Some big departures are coming

Playing devil’s advocate, we would contend that it is a recipe for disaster to start a few unproven young players in the starting lineup, especially away at Molineux and in place of some of Spurs’ best players.

However, despite a rare start, neither Hojbjerg nor Dier did much to indicate that they can be crucial to Postecoglou’s rebuild, with Maddison and Romero’s drop-off being particularly noticeable.
