In his few Premier League games, Destiny Udogie has more than held his own. He completed the transfer a year later than expected because Tottenham permitted him to play a full season on loan at Udinese. To Tuttomercatoweb, his agent Stefano Antonelli revealed a few backstories regarding his prior transfers.

“The bravery to invest is the one thing Italian teams struggle with more than anything else. I defy anyone to name a faction that opposed him. All of them did. But at the time, Gino Pozzo’s Udinese was the only one to pick up speed.

When Udogie arrived from Verona, the Friulani had only made a few Serie A games.

Ten months later, they sold him for €26 million after signing him for €2.8 million. He doesn’t really have a price tag at the moment, given what he’s doing. We spoke with Milan, Juventus, and Inter. However, they lacked the drive to see the procedure through.

“Spending too little on Italian players is a cliche; the same thing happened with Udogie.”

The fullback has made ten appearances for Tottenham so far, scoring two goals. Surprisingly, he was left out of the starting lineup for the final European qualifiers; however, this was due to a minor injury to his muscle. Having only chosen Federico Dimarco and Andrea Cambiaso at first, Luciano Spalletti expanded the defensive wing options by adding Cristiano Biraghi and Manuel Lazzari.

Tottenham Hotspur are facing the prospect of losing one of their best players to Real Madrid.

Los Blancos bought Gareth Bale for a world-record fee in 2013, also signing generational midfielder Luka Modric from the north Londoners. Now, they may be prepared to deal with Spurs once more.

A report from Fichajes claims that Cristian Romero is the latest target of the 14-time European champions in a bid to bolster their defence.

Real are currently missing Eder Militao from their backline, with the Brazilian sidelined over ligament damage. Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are 30 and 31 respectively, with versatile captain Nacho now 33.

World Cup winner Romero would add significant depth to the spine of the side, while he may be able to play as a right-back – which is seen as a problem position for Carlo Ancelotti.

The Argentine won’t come cheap, however: Tottenham are under no pressure to sell, having tied their man down under 2027. Romero is valued at €60 million by Transfermarkt.
