“It was very difficult” – Tottenham star blast Postecoglou for giving a heavy task to cope with after slamming him

Tottenham star on adapting to Postecoglou tactics, now ‘happy’ with new role

Pedro Porro has contributed six assists in 15 games for Tottenham since the beginning of the season, making him practically untouchable in Ange Postecoglou’s schemes.

The Spaniard has four of those in his previous five games, and he is gradually adjusting to the new position that the Spurs manager has demanded of him.

The Tottenham defender acknowledged that it wasn’t easy at initially because he was used to overlapping a lot at Sporting CP, but Postecoglou wants him to come inside more in London in an interview with AS following the 4-1 victory against Newcastle.

Making it clear that Spurs ‘deserved’ the win against the Magpies, he also spoke about how hard it has been to get used to his manager’s new requests.

“It was new to me and I had never played there before, so at first, it was very difficult for me,” he remarked. I feel so much better after every game. I feel more and more at ease as the games go by and I gain the manager’s trust. I want to continue having fun and playing quality games there.

After a difficult first season at Tottenham, the Spain international was ultimately acquired from Sporting CP this summer for €40 million, and a great deal of pressure was placed on his shoulders.

Even though the frequent management changes didn’t help, he is currently benefiting from stability under Postecoglou.

Giovani Lo Celso: Barcelona want Tottenham midfielder in January transfer window

Giovani Lo Celso, a midfielder for Tottenham, is wanted by Barcelona in January. The Argentinean international has been playing well for Spurs lately, starting three of the team’s four league games and scoring against Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Giovani Lo Celso celebrates after equalising for Spurs

Giovani Lo Celso of Tottenham is a player who Barcelona manager Xavi wants the team to sign during the January transfer window.

Gavi’s injury has increased the necessity for a player with Lo Celso’s profile.

It’s actually thought of as a test of Xavi’s level of support among the Barca hierarchy.

Lo Celso was a priority target for Xavi in the summer, but he was eager to stay with Tottenham as well.

Following multiple player injuries, he has been outstanding for Spurs recently. Against Man City in particular, he scored, as did the Premier League winners Aston Villa, who are currently in third place.

With 18 months remaining on his deal in January, Lo Celso has started three of Spurs’ last four league games. He also participated in the final 17 minutes of Saturday’s 4-1 rout of Newcastle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After spending the most of the previous two seasons on loan at Villarreal, he has already played more Premier League minutes under Ange Postecoglou than in any other campaign since 2020–21.

Has Lo Celso emerged as the star player for the Spurs?

“If you ask any member of the Argentina team who their finest technical player is, they will probably tell you that Lionel Messi is the best, but if you ask them who their second best player is, they’ll probably give you a more unexpected response: Giovani Lo Celso.

“That may not come as a shock given how the 27-year-old has performed for his nation over the past few years—48 caps and 14 assists since making his debut in 2017—playing in all but eight games while healthy and consistently being a reliable option for the starting lineup.

“His technical proficiency has never been in question, especially in Argentina and Spain, where he made his name at Real Betis on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, and it was why he was snapped up by Spurs to play an advanced midfield role under Mauricio Pochettino in 2019.”
