Kris Jenkins is going to advance.

After the National Championship game that ended recently, several Michigan football players have already submitted their draft applications to the NFL. It’s not surprising that a number of the Wolverines are choosing to turn pro given how high their draft stock is right now. Kris Jenkins, a defensive lineman, recently entered the debate and told ESPN that there has never been a better moment to advance.

“After everything this season and being blessed to be part of such an amazing team and season and being able to accomplish everything we wanted from Michigan,” Jenkins said, via ESPN’s Pete Thamel. “It’s the ideal moment for me to advance to the next level and discover what awaits me there,”

Jenkins totaled 113 tackles (54 solo and 59 assisted), 8.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks in his three years at Michigan. In addition, he won three consecutive Big Ten championships and, naturally, a National Championship. Additionally this past 2023, Jenkins was named All-Big Ten Second Team.

Jenkins, who stands six feet three and weighs 275 pounds, is currently the fifth member of the Michigan championship team to have filed for the draft. The following Wolverines have chosen to play professionally: edge rusher Jaylen Harrell, linebacker Junior Colson, lineman LaDarius Henderson, and lineman Zak Zinter.

Although Michigan football has a long history of drawing talented players, coach Jim Harbaugh may be losing Kris Jenkins and other important players this offseason, but there will undoubtedly be a large pool of candidates to don the Wolverines uniform.
