Jaime Ffrench, a highly-regarded wide receiver in 2025, announced on Sunday night that he had decommitted from Alabama.
Ffrench, a four-star recruit who was ranked No. 29 overall in the 2025 class by 247 Sports, had committed to Alabama in July of last year. With a five-star rating, he is ranked No. 11 nationally in the industry composite by 247 Sports.
Joe Cox, the tight ends coach at Alabama and French’s main recruiter, is not anticipated to stay with Kalen DeBoer’s current coaching staff. It is anticipated that Nick Sheridan, a tight ends coach from Washington, will succeed DeBoer.
Ffrench revealed to Zac Blostein of Noles247 that Cox had notified him last week of Nick Saban’s retirement. French still intends to travel to Tuscaloosa, and on Monday, he has a call scheduled with the new employees.

It’s getting a little easier to accept how much wide receiver talent the University of Texas lost to the NFL Draft this month.
Isaiah Bond, a transfer wide receiver from Alabama, made his commitment to the Longhorns known on X Sunday morning, bringing one of the most sought-after recruits from the NCAA Transfer Portal to Austin.
Almost immediately following his official Friday morning transfer portal entry, rumors circulated that he would be spending the weekend in Texas. Bond had 48 catches for 668 yards and four touchdowns, which led the Crimson Tide in receiving.
In a phone interview with ESPN on Sunday, Bond said, “You make the best decision for your company, just like the business world.” Right now, my draft stock is my company. I believe I’m positioning myself to have better draft stock and raise that.
After his junior season in 2024, Bond will be eligible to enter the NFL Draft for the first time in 2025.
Bond was ranked No. 1 among wide receivers and No. 2 overall in the portal on Friday, according to the 247Sports transfer rankings. Bond was ranked No. 2 by 247Sports in the class of 2022 and a Top 50 national recruit.
Three days prior to Sunday’s pledge, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers declared he would return to the state as a fourth-year junior the following season. Given that he threw for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 2023, Bond should be among Ewers’ top targets. However, redshirt freshman Arch Manning might challenge Ewers in the offseason. Steve Sarkisian, the head coach of Texas, may or may not allow competition for the position during spring practice.
Bond stated to ESPN that he was “100%” sure there would be a relationship with Ewers. “He’s a fantastic, elite pocket passer at quarterback. Next year, he’ll be a top pick in the draft. I will also be a very popular choice. It will make for a strong team.
The now-famous fourth-and-31 touchdown pass to Bond came late in Alabama’s Iron Bowl victory over Auburn in the fourth quarter. Prior to defeating Georgia in the SEC title game on December 2, that victory preserved the Crimson Tide’s chances of making the College Football Playoffs. Following that victory, Alabama advanced to the College Football Playoffs as the fourth seed. However, they were defeated in overtime of a CFP semifinal at the Rose Bowl by eventual national champion Michigan.
Bond had nine receptions for 126 yards between the Rose Bowl and the SEC championship game.
With Jordan Whittington, Aaron Mitchell, and Xavier Worthy all expected to enter the NFL Draft, Texas still needs wide receiver assistance. In catches and yards, Worthy, Mitchell, and Whittington finished 1-2-3 for the Longhorns during a 12-2 campaign that culminated in a CFP semifinal at the Sugar Bowl.
