    Five-Star WR Cancels Longhorns Visit

According to reports from On3, five-star 2024 wide receiver Ryan Williams will no longer be visiting the Texas Longhorns. This coming weekend was supposed to be his visitation.

Williams is scheduled to visit Auburn on February 3 after recently visiting Tuscaloosa and College Station.

Williams de-committed from the Crimson Tide after legendary head coach Nick Saban retired. Williams recently reclassified from the 2025 class to the 2024 class.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he is currently ranked as the No. 12 player in the country, the No. 4 wide receiver, and the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama. Williams was ranked first among receivers in the 2025 class prior to his reclassification.

Williams is a teammate of K.J. Lacey, a 2025 Longhorns quarterback commit.

Over the last two seasons, Williams gained 2,965 yards and 43 touchdowns from 160 receptions while receiving passes from quarterback Kyle Lacey. This made him one of the most potent quarterback/wide receiver combinations in the nation.

The Longhorns were hoping to add Williams to a team that is trying to replace Ja’Tavion Sanders, Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, and Jordan Whittington, who are all headed to the NFL, with 217 receptions, 3,046 yards, and 19 touchdowns.

But it seems like the Horns are no longer in that race.

Nevertheless, Austin will still have plenty of talent at the position with the addition of Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, and Silas Bolden, in addition to Johntay Cook II, DeAndre Moore, five-star rookie Ryan Wingo, and four-stars Aaron Butler, Parker Livingstone, and Freddie Dubose Jr.

In February, Williams is scheduled to sign his letter of intent and make his decision.

Report: Five-star WR Ryan Williams cancels official visit to Texas

Prior to National Signing Day, the Alabama prospect visited Tuscaloosa, College Station, and Baton Rouge.

According to a report from On3, the nation’s No. 6 prospect, wide receiver Ryan Williams of Saraland, Alabama, canceled his planned official visit to the Forty Acres this weekend, eliminating the Texas Longhorns from consideration for the five-star prospect.

Williams reclassified from the 2025 recruiting class, and less than two weeks ago, before head coach Nick Saban retired, he decommitted from Alabama. Since then, he has made official visits to Alabama, Texas A&M, and LSU. On February 3, he is still scheduled to visit Auburn.

The 6’0.5, 165-pound quarterback and the Longhorns are related because KJ Lacey, his teammate and a consensus four-star quarterback, has committed to Texas for the 2025 recruiting class. With two 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions coming in for the Tigers following his decommitment from the Crimson Tide, Auburn may be leading, but Alabama appears to be back in the game with Kalen DeBoer taking charge in Tuscaloosa.

Three wide receivers, including former Crimson Tide star Isaiah Bond, were acquired through the transfer portal; additionally, Texas signed four high school wide receivers from the 2024 recruiting class, which includes Ryan Wingo, a consensus five-star prospect. Despite the fact that Williams will not be settling on the Forty Acres, Chris Jackson has effectively remodeled that position room over the past two months.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Williams is the No. 2 player in Alabama and the No. 3 wide receiver.
