There will be some cause for concern over the injury suffered by Springboks star Cheslin Kolbe on the eve of the Test rugby season.

The Springboks management will be sweating following confirmation that Cheslin Kolbe suffered a significant injury while on duty for his club in Japan.

According to reputable Japan-based journalist Rich Freeman, Kolbe has injured his hand pretty badly and could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Kolbe missed Suntory’s 62-0 triumph over Black Rams in Japan’s League One last weekend due to the unfortunate knock.

Kolbe’s hand was extensively bandaged and in a brace as he was filming a Mamelodi Sundowns promotional video, according to SARugbymag.

However, Suntory Sungoliath, who are third in the standings after winning six of their last eight games, will suffer a severe setback as a result of Kolbe’s injury.

On March 5–6, the Springboks will have a 43-player alignment camp.

    BIG SEASON AHEAD

The first international of the Incoming Series against Portugal and two Test matches against Ireland are on the Springboks’ July schedule.

In the Rugby Championship, the world champions will play two Tests—one at home and one away—against Argentina and then back-to-back Tests against Australia before playing Tests at home and New Zealand.
