Postecoglou draws attention to the areas where he thinks Tottenham lacks “bang for their buck” even after thrashing Aston Villa.

Ange Postecoglou believes his Tottenham attackers can do more

According to Football London, Tottenham Hotspur manager believes his attacking unit hasn’t proven with their billing yet. Ange Postecoglou was talking to the media in the post-match press conference while he commented. He was asked — The battle between you and Aston Villa? The question was about the battle for the fourth place. Ange was quick to respond:

“You’re (the media) keeping us there aren’t you!? No worries. Nah. What’s important for us is that I thought we scored four good goals from four key players who need to be scoring for us. I keep saying that that’s the area of the park where I don’t think we’ve got bang for our buck, considering how hard we work in that front third.”

The Tottenham gaffer believes his attacking unit can provide more than what they already are. While he expressed his delight in getting four goals from four important players, he believes there were more chances.

Ange Postecoglou also emphasised the ability of his attackers to help Spurs become a high-scoring team but that area is still a ‘work in progress’.

A satisfactory performance that raises hopes

Tottenham has faced pressure in all departments except for midfield this season. The defensive unit faced problems during the absence of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero and later Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie.

The attacking unit displayed shortcomings when Heung-min Son left for the Asian Cup and until Richarlison hit the purple patch. The game against Aston Villa was wholesome for the club’s fans as they got goals from whom they needed the most.

Timo Werner, whose goal-scoring abilities have been questioned lately, scored in his second game in a row. Brennan Johnson, the up-and-coming player for the Lilywhites found the back of the net as well.
