Ange Postecoglou confirms Tottenham star will miss Fulham game in latest blow

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is set to be without one of his key summer signings.

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven had a scan on his hamstring on Tuesday afternoon with the club optimistic that he would be back in training soon. He will however miss this weekend’s trip to Craven Cottage in the Premier according to manager Ange Postecoglou.

This is the second major injury the 22-year-old has suffered after missing two months out late last year due to a similar injury picked up against Chelsea on November 6. Against Villa this weekend, he was one of the top performers before pulling out earlier in the second half.

Manager Postecoglou confirmed the £34million summer signing from Wolfsburg was a huge doubt for the London derby this weekend. He told Sky Sports: “We’re still getting all the information in.

“Look, he’s unlikely for this weekend, we don’t think it’s anything major. We’ll probably get some information at the back end of the week, so [he’s] unlikely for Fulham.

“But with the international break hopefully it means he doesn’t miss too much after that.”

Spurs defeated Aston Villa 4-0 to increase their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League. The Lilywhites still have a game against Chelsea left and are only two points behind Unai Emery’s team.

They will have a fantastic opportunity of earning that crucial fourth spot and Champions League football if they can resurrect their form from the beginning of the season, when they threw teams off and won eight of their first ten games.

Spurs still have ten games left, against Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool. Postecoglou’s team will probably be a big factor in determining the league champion for this season.
