Chiefs’ disastrous Super Bowl exposed the run game as the offense’s fatal flaw When Patrick Mahomes and the passing game struggled vs the Eagles, the Chiefs run game was nowhere to be seen. The Kansas City Chiefs were completely and utterly dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. The game was even more of a blowout than the 40-22 final score indicated. The Eagles came in with a legendary running back in Saquon Barkley, but when the Chiefs’ defense put the clamps on him, the Eagles’ passing game was able to counterpunch and still put points on the board. However,…

There’s a new sheriff in town KwaMashu-born Thabo Cele, a recruit in the Chiefs engine room, shared Inacio Miguel’s story on Instagram and added some Portuguese flavour to his caption. “Xerife”, the word he added to the post, means sheriff in Portuguese, a language both players speak fluently. Miguel has become a mainstay in the heart of defence for Chiefs under Nasreddine Nabi, forming a partnership with 22-year-old Rushwin Dortley. Although Angolan star Miguel has served two separate…

The Sharks and Bulls are set to go head-to-head in a highly-anticipated URC clash this Saturday, but both sides are contending with a lengthy injury list, while some Springboks are also on mandatory ‘leave’. The presence of influential lock Eben Etzebeth has been sorely missed by the Sharks, who has been contending with a “return-of-symptoms from his recent concussion”, which has kept him out of action for a number of weeks now. “The Sharks take…
Chelsea loanee could have worked well in Maresca’s system Ben Chilwell made his Crystal Palace debut on Monday night in the FA Cup against Doncaster Rovers, and Oliver Glasner highlighted his strengths. Enzo Maresca simply didn’t take to Chilwell and it was clear from pre-season the 28-year-old wouldn’t be part of Chelsea’s plans for this campaign. Chilwell was sent to train with the “bomb” squad, but when a summer exit failed to materialise he went back to training with the first team. Glasner on Chilwell debut The left back played just 45 minutes of football over the first half of…
When he first arrived at Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, most Premier League fans were baffled by the relatively modest price tag Spurs paid to sign James Maddison from Leicester City. Maddison took to Tottenham brilliantly and actually looked to be inspiring a push for the title after 10 or so games alongside Ange Postecoglou in N17. However, the England international, like a lot of his teammates, then succumbed to injury, and in truth, it’s all been a bit disjointed for Maddison ever since. Missing with a calf issue recently, Maddison has played 31 games this season, yielding nine goals and six assists –…

“Nuno didn’t want it” – Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell drops Nottingham Forest claim after FA Cup classic Gary Caldwell Nuno Espirito Santo It took 150 minutes, but Nottingham Forest finally saw off Exeter City to make it into the FA Cup Fifth Round on Tuesday night. Josh Magennis put the home side in front to get St James Park rocking before Ramón Sosa levelled things up after a quarter of an hour. Forest then took the lead through a neat turn and finish from Taiwo Awoniyi with eight minutes to go until half-time, and it looked like the bigger…
One of the less successful pieces of transfer business of last summer is set to be reversed when the Premier League 2025 season concludes: It is rare for both club and player to be in accord on an exit from London Stadium after less than twelve months but in this case West Ham, the player and his new club will all see it as a satisfactory outcome. From a Hammers’ fans perspective, the more exciting part of this will be seeing Freddie Potts (main pic) – currently out on a season long loan at Portsmouth – step up to fill the departing player’s boots at London…
Tottenham Hotspur has been given the go-ahead to build a new training ground despite campaigners arguing it would destroy a park. The football club plans to fence off a section of Whitewebbs Park in Enfield, north London, and build a new women’s academy, with 11 pitches and a new clubhouse. There were 296 objections sent to Enfield Council, with many comments about the loss of green space and the impact on wildlife in the area. Objectors to the plans included The Woodland Trust. Enfield Council decided to grant a 25-year lease to the football club, and said the development would…
