TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR EMERGE AS MYSTERY CLUB TO MAKE BID FOR £64M PLAYER

It has now been revealed that Tottenham Hotspur is the unidentified team that is thought to have made a deal for Pepe, a wide receiver for Porto.

Tottenham Hotspur is interested in signing Porto star Pepe, but a preliminary offer has been turned down.

Apparently, Tottenham has submitted its initial bid for Pepe, according to the Portuguese publication A Bola.

A package totaling €60 million (£51.5 million) is reportedly what Tottenham has offered, including €45 million (£38.5 million) in set money and €15 million (£13 million) in potential add-ons.

Porto has rejected the offer and would not accept anything less than their original demands of €75 million (£64 million) for Pepe.

Pepe’s release clause in his Porto contract has a value of that much, and Tottenham has been instructed to pay it or walk away from a deal.

According to the article, Pepe has also drawn interest from Arsenal this summer, and Edu appears to be a fan of his fellow Brazilian.

After Goal reported on Wednesday that Porto had been in talks to sell Pepe to an unnamed English team, this news comes as a surprise.

Although the team was not identified, it now appears that Tottenham will make the move rather than London rivals Arsenal.

Pepe is a possible target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Pepe was raised in Coritiba and began his career with Foz do Iguaçu Futebol Clube after being born in Foz do Iguaçu. As a young adult, Pepe was on loan to Coritiba.

The 26-year-old Pepe then took off after Gremio swooped in to sign him on a permanent basis in 2016.

Pepe became a sought-after player after scoring 32 goals in 144 games, and Porto was able to bring him to Portugal in 2021.

Pepe joined Porto as a winger and has since played on both flanks, but he can also play right back after being converted.

Mikel Arteta and Ange Postecoglou are just two of the many suitors who will be drawn to Pepe’s versatility to play as a winger, attacking midfielder, and even right back.

The deployment of full backs infield to aid in build-up play has been promoted by both Arteta and Postecoglou because they both value real fluidity.

It is possible to see Pepe as a player who can fill that role while also providing depth further up the field.

However, it seems unlikely that either Arsenal or Tottenham will agree to the £64 million demands, and it even surprises me to see that Tottenham allegedly made an offer of $51.5 million.

Although we don’t anticipate Pepe heading to Tottenham before the transfer deadline, we should keep an eye on him in the future.
