Konstantinos Mavropanos outperforms West Ham United defender and Arsenal great Ian Wright

Ian Wright, a former Arsenal striker, was thrilled by West Ham’s acquisition of Konstantinos Mavropanos during the summer transfer window.

Additionally, he singled out Tim Steidten, who was essential in bringing in a number of new players this summer.

Mohammed Kudus, James Ward-Prowse, and Edson Alvarez were all acquired by the Hammers throughout the summer, while the club also paid £18 million for the former Arsenal player from Greece.

Mavropanos is a very good signing, Wright commented on the Kelly and Wrighty Show (04/09, 14:45). There is a new recruiter working there. With the money they spent and the players they brought in, West Ham will be really pleased.

    Time will reveal.

Given the quantity of high-caliber center backs who were linked, some West Ham supporters may have been disappointed by the signing of Mavropanos.

The majority of them last witnessed the Greece international in action in the Premier League when he was a youngster playing for an uncooperative Arsenal team.

He must have something going for him if Steidten and David Moyes both agreed to sign him, but only time will tell if he was the right choice.

In order to fit into that defense with Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd on either side, Moyes also used a back three.

Mavropanos is still only 25 years old and will improve with time, so it is unclear what the goal is for him. Hopefully, the investment will be worthwhile.

In other West Ham news, the organization has started early negotiations with a Premier League player who seems willing to leave his team this summer.

West Ham United transfer news as Jesse Lingard holds talks with DC United

Jesse Lingard, who has been working out with West Ham in an effort to land a transfer to the London Stadium, has reportedly held conversations with DC United about moving to the Major League Soccer.

The American newspaper revealed on its website on September 2 that conversations had taken place over a potential transfer for Lingard with DC United, the team Wayne Rooney’s old Manchester United colleague manages.

After working with David Beckham’s Inter Miami for a portion of the summer, it was said that Lingard was looking for a long-term contract. However, negotiations reportedly broke down, and he has since been practicing at Rush Green.

The tabloid also reported that Rooney claimed the club will not make any agreements for free agents in the upcoming weeks due to problems with the salary cap at the organization, implying Lingard may have been asking a greater sum than the club would be able to afford.

West Ham are rumored to favor a short-term contract should they decide to offer Lingard a contract. It is unknown if the former England international’s wage and contract length demands would be repeated in conversations with the Hammers.

Despite practicing at Rush Green during the offseason to stay in shape and look for a job after being released by Nottingham Forest, West Ham officials have expressed concerns about Lingard’s health.

There is still uncertainty around Lingard’s future, thus the possibility of a poor fan response may also play a role in the club’s choice. Many supporters disapprove of the manner in which Lingard left the club during his previous stint, and this may have an adverse effect on the club’s decision.

    West Ham

Lingard made an impression during his time at the London Stadium for the second part of the 2020–21 campaign by scoring nine goals and providing five assists. He had the option of returning to West Ham permanently that summer, but he chose to sign with Nottingham Forest since the Midlands club was willing to pay him more money.

West Ham is taking its time making this selection, and a variety of factors are impacting their final choice. Nevertheless, a decision should soon be made.

As interest in Lingard rises, they might need to act soon if they want to sign him.

In other West Ham news, Liverpool’s refusal to negotiate a deal for the club’s star left a Sky Sports analyst perplexed.
