Ange Postecoglou paid tribute to Heung-Min Son after a captain’s display in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Arsenal.

Sonny, in Ange’s opinion, was the team’s hardest worker. He also scored two points with two precise shots as we twice overcame deficits to keep our unblemished Premier League record intact.

Speaking on The Review Show on SPURSPLAY, Ange said: “Football-wise, we’re very much in the early phases of growth, but the character this group of players is displaying already, the spirt among the group, it’s incredible, lead by Sonny, who showed an unbelievable work rate today.

He is so focused on working as a team that it is amazing. The team’s interests come first in his mind.

“Those three led in every aspect and in the best way possible, even if James Maddison wasn’t fully healthy heading into the game. Cristian Romero was also not 100%.

“The response to both goals was excellent, with Sonny playing with complete calmness in the front third and Madders pressing right away after his ball was wonderfully timed. Apart from his ambitions, Sonny’s work ethic and shutting down were what ultimately led to today’s success.

“Sonny has been outstanding as a leader and as a player,” Ange continued in his post-game press conference. Now that we have him in the nine position, he just works so hard. He really puts the team first, which is amazing. When he puts himself in those circumstances, he thinks first about what is best for the team and then has the ability to finish.

“Sonny was there to complete them, and I felt Madders was great with both assists. He has a lot of interest in what we’re doing, so I’m happy for him. He, Madders, and Romero, as well as players like Bissouma on the pitch, are largely responsible for the team environment I discuss, so it is wonderful that he is receiving recognition.
