According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a target for Manchester United and is reportedly eager to leave Tottenham Hotspur during the winter transfer window.

The 28-year-old has struggled to crack the starting eleven under new manager Ange Postecoglou so far this season despite becoming a key component of Spurs’ system over the past three years.

According to earlier rumors, Tottenham would be willing to let him leave this summer, with Atletico Madrid being the team most keen to sign him. According to reports, Manchester United was also considering making a move for him, but they ultimately decided against doing so before the deadline, therefore the Dane ended up staying in the English capital.

Hojbjerg is reportedly considering quitting Spurs in January after becoming dissatisfied with his lack of playing time at the recently renovated White Hart Lane this season, according to Romano, who made the announcement on his YouTube channel.

The journalist goes on to say that if the Danish international couldn’t arrange a transfer away from Tottenham in the winter, he will undoubtedly depart the team in the summer.

Hojbjerg was on Ten Hag’s want list this summer, according to Romano, but United ultimately decided to sign Sofyan Amrabat, who was their top target.

The Moroccan, however, has just signed a loan agreement with the team, so if they decide not to sign him on a permanent basis next summer, they may look to add a new midfielder and may think about buying Hojbjerg if he leaves in the current transfer window.

The 28-year-old prefers to play as a playmaker who lies deep but can also be used in a box-to-box position. He has an eye for long-range passing, can contribute with some significant goals, and is also strong on defense. He can link up the play from defense to attack.

If Manchester United decides to make a move for Hojbjerg next year to improve their engine room, he might be a wise signing because he has Premier League experience and is valued at roughly £39 million per Transfermarkt.
