Ange Postecoglou told two transfers he must make for Tottenham to win the EPL title

Brad Friedel, a former goalie for Tottenham, has identified the two areas he thinks Ange Postecoglou needs to strengthen during the January transfer window if they intend to continue challenging for the Premier League championship.

With 20 points from their first eight league games and a 90-minute winless streak, Spurs have had their best start to a season since 1961. The only blemish on their record thus far this season is an early Carabao Cup elimination to Fulham on penalties, but this will only strengthen their will to have a great league finish.

Since its talisman Harry Kane abruptly left the club late in the summer, the club was understandably written off by many before the season even began. But thanks in large part to Heung-min Son, they have emerged as a surprise package and have dominated the top flight.

As a sole striker for Spurs in Postecoglou’s system, the South Korean, who has been praised for his connection with Kane over the past several years, is now on his own.Even though Richarlison has scored a couple goals of his own, the team lacks depth at this position because summer acquisition Brennan Johnson is presently sidelined with an injury.

Now former shot-stopper Friedel claims that’s one of the only places they can really upgrade before they are in with a serious chance of challenging the likes of Manchester City and North London rivals Arsenal by taking the title race down to the wire.

“I think they still need a couple more goals from someone else up front,” Friedel remarked. If they can convince Richarlison to start doing it, the squad is already equipped with it. But once the FA Cup begins and the holiday season arrives, you’ll have a lot of difficult games to recover from, so sometimes you’ll not be at your best and you’ll just need a goalscorer.

“When you think about the finest teams in history, each one of them had a player to carry them through those challenging games. Son is scoring, which is fantastic for them, but I believe they need someone else up front.
