Ange Postecoglou ready to make bid for star attacker as he makes bid ahead for January transfer window
Tottenham is one of’several clubs’ that are apparently prepared to sign Jota from Al-Ittihad in January after his summer deal to the club hasn’t worked out.
Along with players like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, Jota was a part of the summertime European migration to the Saudi Pro League. After scoring 11 goals and dishing out 10 assists to help Celtic win the title last year, the forward left Celtic on a high note.
With the Hoops, he won the league twice in a row, and he played a significant role in the team’s first victory as well.
His tenure at Al-Ittihad is not going as smoothly as he had hoped. The Portuguese forward has played just 133 minutes total in five games eight games into the season.
Due to his lack of games, he appears to be leaving the club shortly, and clubs are lining up to sign him. Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham and a former Celtic manager, is one of them.
Spurs are reportedly ‘one of several clubs willing’ to acquire Jota from Al-Ittihad in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider. Despite the report’s assertion that he must be “willing to move on,” given that he was rarely selected, there is a strong likelihood that he will.
One of the primary drivers of their interest is the fact that Postecoglou is in charge at Tottenham. Given that the manager is “a big fan of the forward,” it is claimed that Jota’s current predicament has “caught the attention” of the manager.
Spurs need a lethal striker despite being in dominant form at the top of the Premier League. Pairing Heung-min Son with another talented offensive player is crucial if they want to maintain their current form throughout the season.
Jota’s final statistics with the club were 28 goals and 26 assists from 83 games. He was not only a very skilled goal scorer during his time with Celtic, but he was also a very good provider.
Due of this, he may be the ideal addition to the Tottenham team, and a coach with as much faith in him as Postecoglou may be able to turn around his difficult period after not playing this season to have him firing on all cylinders once more.
