Trent Alexander-Arnold destroys James Maddison with perfect response to Tottenham man’s Liverpool ‘replay’ taunt
After they crossed paths while serving for England, James Maddison jokingly made fun of Trent Alexander-Arnold on social media.
After the two crossed paths while serving abroad, James Maddison jokingly remarked that Trent Alexander-Arnold was “still asking for a replay.”
On Monday evening, the Spurs midfielder shared a photo of the two of them at St. George’s Park on social media. In preparation for England’s forthcoming matches against Australia and Italy, the two are now practicing.
However, the two also took part in the recently contentious Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool Premier League game. Spurs defeated the Reds 2-1, but the game was mostly decided by Reds-favoring decisions.
After “significant human errors” caused Luis Diaz’s first-half goal to be incorrectly disallowed for offside, the refereeing organization, the PGMOL, was compelled to apologize to Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp, the manager of the Reds who also had Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota sent off, offered an apology after which he demanded that his team be given a replay.
And today, Maddison commented on Instagram after sharing a photo of Alexander-Arnold gesturing in his direction: “Still asking for a replay!” three distinct emojis follow.
The tactic, however, may have backfired on Maddison after Trent immediately responded to the Spurs player, whose team last won a trophy in 2008, by saying, “Still asking to see my trophies.”
Reds manager Klopp said last week: “There should have been solutions for it. As a fan of football rather than as the manager of Liverpool, I believe that a replay should be the only possible result.
The argument is that it would allow anyone to request it, thus it’s unlikely to happen. This, in my opinion, is unparalleled.
Maddison has been a standout for Ange Postecoglou’s team in the first few weeks of the Premier League, which has Spurs atop the standings. The North London team is currently three points ahead of Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool team.
