Just before halftime, Bissouma decided to kneel down outside the box after receiving a yellow card midway through the first half for blocking a counterattack.
The referee quickly realized there had been no contact and was forced to show the Mali international a second yellow card.
That made things more difficult for Spurs in the second half, but despite having to play with one less player for 45 minutes plus stoppage time, they still managed to scrape out a 1-0 victory. They did this despite having to deal with the aerial barrage from the home team.
Did Ange have words with Bissouma in private?
Zamora thinks that, given the Mali international’s antics on Saturday, the Spurs manager would have spoken to the player in private and with considerably harsher words.
The ex-Spurs forward stated to Stadium Astro: “There’s a component of that attitude in terms of what’s happened on the field with a man getting sent off and one of those [yellow cards for diving].
“I think they got away with it quite lightly in terms of it, but it’s something he [Ange Postecoglou] will have to have a hard dialogue about.
“They (Luton) had a couple of chances, but they didn’t take them. If they had been another team, they would have been severely punished, and it might have cost the team three points.”
Since it was just a bad judgment made in the heat of the moment, which the midfielder would later regret, I don’t believe Ange will reprimand Bissouma for it. I’m confident the 27-year-old will realize the error of his ways.
