Tottenham could potentially sign the new Declan Rice for amount lesser than £20m
A very interesting midfield prospect has recently been associated with Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have gotten in touch about adolescent Arthur Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp, claims 90Min.
According to the source, a number of Europe’s top clubs are vying for the services of the 18-year-old, including Tottenham.
Vermeeren is reportedly being pursued by Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Borussia.
Even better, according to TEAMtalk, Antwerp has only assigned a £15 million price tag to their star.
Despite the possibility of a bidding battle, the starting price of £15 million is excellent.
A very ‘Fantastic level’ of performance by Vermeeren
Vermeeren is a top talent who has been supported in his ascent to stardom.
He has been called up to the Belgium senior team and has already played 49 times for Antwerp.
Vermeeren has been compared to Declan Rice by football.london when discussing players.
They claim that Vermeeren is a hybrid between a box-to-box midfielder and a classic holding midfielder.
Declan Rice, who recently set a club record for Arsenal, is “a little similar to Declan Rice in that respect.”
Vermeeren has even been compared by Marc Overmars to Xavi and Andres Iniesta, two legends of Barcelona.
According to The Express, he said to Cadena Ser, “I have no doubt that he has a fantastic level.”
“The first time I saw him, he reminded me of Xavi and (Andres) Iniesta, a footballer of the same profile.”
Tottenham are undoubtedly headed in the right way, and adding a player of this caliber to the team — possibly for less than £20 million — would be a positive step in that direction.
