After Tottenham attempted to sign him on deadline day, the “fantastic” player is now anticipated to leave in January.
By adding Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips over the summer, Ange Postecoglou expanded his defensive lineup choices.
Following his departure from Wolfsburg, Van de Ven has flourished and forged a promising alliance with Cristian Romero.
Despite acquiring Trevoh Chalobah on the final day of the summer transfer window, Spurs still don’t have much depth in their center of defense.
Although Tottenham and Bayern Munich were interested in Chalobah, he stayed at Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino has not yet used the 24-year-old this season, and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on his status before the January transfer window.
Chalobah expected to leave Chelsea
Chalobah is anticipated to leave Chelsea during the winter transfer window, according to Romano, who made the allegation on X on Sunday night.
“Both Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah expect to split ways in January,” he stated, “the goal for English CB is to find more room and play on a more consistent basis in 2024.
“Discussions will take place after the Bayern deal fell through in August — interest is still there, but the race is open to other clubs as well.”
Ange Postecoglou has had a great start with Spurs, who are now in first place in the Premier League.
Even though it’s still early, Tottenham’s lack of depth in crucial positions, particularly at center-back, raises questions.
Due to their inability to sell Eric Dier, Tottenham were unable to sign another center defender this summer. Although Chalobah was an option for Spurs toward the conclusion of the summer transfer season, it would be unexpected to see them renew their interest in the “fantastic” defender.
