Italian media reveal how Destiny Udogie performed on his senior international debut against Malta

Destiny Udogie received accolades from Corriere dello Sport after making his debut in Italy’s 4-0 victory over Malta on Saturday.

After such a strong start to his Tottenham career, Udogie’s first call-up to the Italian national squad last week was surely not unexpected.

The 20-year-old has adjusted to the Premier League’s and Ange Postecoglou’s style with ease, and it appears that he has a lot more in store for us.

Destiny Udogie only needed 10 minutes to impress

On Saturday, Luciano Spalletti gave him his debut cap. The youthful player had replaced Federico Dimarco in the 80th minute, coming off the bench to set up Davide Fratessi for Italy’s fourth goal.

Udogie was asked to play as a midfielder in practice, according to Spalletti, who said after the game that the former Udinese player can operate in the middle of the park (Tuttomercatoweb).

The Tottenham player’s senior debut at Stadio San Nicola in Barri on Saturday thrilled Corriere.

He received a 6 out of 10, and they noted that he is the first rookie to be managed by Spalletti. It takes him eleven minutes to realize his impact and recover the ball, making the score 4-0.

Without a doubt, this is Udogie’s first cap of many. The 20-year-old’s skill level is demonstrated by the fact that a seasoned and well-respected coach like Spalletti thinks he can play as a midfielder.

Tottenham star has more progressive carries than any Premier League player this season

Dejan Kulusevski leads all Premier League players in progressive carries thus far this season, according to FBref.

Kulusevski, who spent a large portion of the previous season finding it difficult to make an impression on games, is starting to resemble the player we saw when he initially joined Tottenham from Juventus.

The Swede has put in a lot of effort for the team and has already scored twice this season.

In the Lilywhites’ 2-0 victory against Bournemouth back in August, the winger ran a massive 13 km, the most of any player in the Premier League this season in any game.Dejan Kulusevski

Dejan Kulusevski is putting in a shift for Tottenham

Two weeks ago, when Tottenham was reduced to 10 men against Luton Town, Kulusevski once again gave it his all. Following the match, Ange Postecoglou singled out the winger for praise, saying that his teammates were aware of his “selfless” efforts (Spurs Play).

Kulusevski has also topped the list for the most progressive carries in the season’s first eight games, according to information released by FBref.

A play that moves the ball at least ten yards in the direction of the opponent’s goal is referred to as a progressive carry.

Kulusevski has accomplished 51 progressive carries thus far, according to the data website. Raheem Sterling of Chelsea (45) and Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton (47) are in second and third place, respectively, behind the Tottenham player.

Perhaps not as helpful to the team as it was during Antonio Conte’s counterattacking season, Kulusevski’s ability to get us up the pitch is.

Undoubtedly, though, the Swede is a crucial component of Ange Postecoglou’s team because of his relentless counter-pressing, which always helps us regain possession.
