Newcastle United and West Ham ‘eye’ Arsenal star as ex-Aston Villa man delivers surprise judgement
Newcastle United transfers: A former striker for Aston Villa has given his opinion on the most recent transfer rumors surrounding the Magpies. Newcastle United and West Ham are both interested in signing the Arsenal star.
Emile Smith Rowe, an Arsenal midfielder, has recently been linked to Newcastle United. After an injury-plagued season in which he made just 12 Premier League appearances and three more in other competitions last year, Smith Rowe has struggled to find consistent playing time at the Emirates Stadium this summer and hasn’t been a regular under Mikel Arteta for the better part of two seasons.
The 23-year-old has been connected with a number of clubs, with West Ham and the Magpies both rumored to be interested in signing him. When rumors about Smith Rowe’s future at the Emirates Stadium first surfaced during the summer transfer window, Arteta was reluctant to see him depart. However, if Smith Rowe continues to receive little match time, he may end up forcing a transfer in January.
Smith Rowe would have choices if he choose to quit the club because Newcastle and West Ham are reportedly interested in his services. A transfer to St James’ Park, though, isn’t ‘certain’ to be a success, according to one former player.
Gabby Agbonlahor’s verdict
Smith Rowe’s success at Newcastle is not certain, according to Gabby Agbonlahor, who also suggested that one of Smith Rowe’s former Arsenal teammates would present a challenge for him. I think he’s at the level, the former Aston Villa player said in a statement to Football Insider. He might be a valuable addition to Newcastle’s roster.
“But that is the issue. He would depart from Arsenal in favor of a new team where he wouldn’t get the start. Don’t forget that Willock will be returning in that spot for Newcastle.
He was outstanding the previous season but has been utterly overlooked by everyone. In that region, there is also Guimaraes.
“He’d have to battle for a job if he arrived to Newcastle. No assurances can be given about it. However, in my opinion, Newcastle offers him a better chance to play. For whatever reason, Arteta simply doesn’t appear to be into him. By sitting there and not playing, he is squandering his greatest years.
