Tottenham supporters were not at all shocked by Udogie’s assured and commanding performance at Wembley on Tuesday night against England.

The 20-year-old has had a fantastic start to his Spurs career. He has easily adjusted to the pressures of the Premier League and the philosophy of Ange Postecoglou, and he seemed very comfortable playing on the biggest platform for the Azzurri.

Throughout the first half, Udogie confidently marched forward with the ball multiple times; on minute fifteen, one of those plays set up Gianluca Scamacca’s first goal.

The Tottenham player was on the losing end as the home team rallied behind goals from Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane to guarantee their spot in the Euros the following summer. Despite this setback, the left-back has received high accolades for his performance.

Udogie is impressing some big names in the game

Zola was pleased with the bravery that Luciano Spalletti’s men showed at Wembley, singling out Udogie for praise.

“It reminded me of what Spalletti said, he said before the match on the interview: ‘we need to be brave with the ball,'” he commented on Channel 4 (broadcast on October 17 at 20:08). We must exercise possession control and play freely in this manner.

And as you can see, even though he was under pressure, Donnarumma didn’t kick the ball as far as he could have. They emerged, looking passing. Furthermore, Udogie was excellent and they developed a strong action, I must add.

Udogie, who was adventurous with the ball under Postecoglou at Tottenham and is now used to playing out of the back, will fit well in with Spalletti’s Italian lineup. The 20-year-old will undoubtedly be a mainstay in the starting eleven of the Azzuri’s from now on.
