The Springboks battled valiantly to clinch an unexpected 16-15 victory against England in what was a classic semi-final arm-wrestle to advance to the Rugby World Cup final in 2023.
AFTER BEATEN, ENGLAND CRIED FOUL
However, while South Africans are still recovering from the exhilaration of the nail-biting triumph, England has leveled a most remarkable charge against one of the most prominent and powerful members of the Springboks.
Even though Tom Curry isn’t the English captain, he was seen approaching the referee at the 30-minute point of the gripping Test match.
As it turns out, Curry’s encounter with referee Ben O’Keeffe took place at the precise moment he informed the official that Bongi Mbonambi had called him a derogatory racial epithet, according to an article that appeared in the Telegraph on Sunday.
Curry claims that Mbonambi called him a “white c***”.
Curry could be heard asking the referee, “Sir, sir, if their hooker calls me a white c**t, what do I do?”The O’Keeffe responded, “Nothing, please,” to which.
The England team is convinced that Mbonambi’s utterance was heard on the referee’s microphone, but the story goes on to say that there is no auditory proof of Mbonambi’s reported insult.
At the conclusion of the game, Mbonambi and Curry both declined to shake hands.
