Bongi Mbonambi ‘perfect’ in training amid English witch hunt

The front row star has been the target of a witch hunt by the English rugby media, but Springboks assistant coach Daan Human has praised Bongi Mbonambi for his commitment in training this week.

Mbonambi, according to Human, performed flawlessly during this week’s training.

In training, BONGI MBONAMBI was “PERFECT.”

Given that World Rugby and SA Rugby are both conducting inquiries, the forwards coach stated that he was unable to comment on the accusations.

He had a perfect training session this afternoon—okay, not quite perfect, but we try to have flawless sessions. Human told reporters, “I really can’t comment on it.

“Bongi has been part of this group for the last six years. He is a very important piece of our puzzle, he is definitely very important to us like all the other players.

“He is definitely one of our leaders in the group as well, a great guy. A great family man and I know his kids always look after my kids when they come to the hotel. He is a very humble guy, down to earth and a very hard worker like all the other players, which they should be if they want to play for the Springboks.

“I haven’t discussed that [with him]. But to be straightforward and honest with you, he is a calm guy. He is well spoken and I don’t want to actually go into it because we have a World Cup final in six days’ time. Like I said I am more concentrated on the forwards.”

    SPRINGBOKS HAPPY WITH HOOKER OPTIONS

Even if Deon Fourie and Marco van Staden, two loose forwards, serve as backups at hooker, Human would add that the Springboks are content with their depth in that position.

There are three hookers in the gang, including Deon Fourie and Marco van Staden, as far as I can determine. We are completely at ease with three hookers because we have three individuals who can play the position. A minimum of two hookers are required to advance to the final.
