“I remember his speed” – Champions League star lauds Tottenham player

Tottenham ‘fantastic’ centre-back gets big praises from Champions League star and National team-mate

Lionel Messi declared almost a month ago that Cristian Romero, a defender for Tottenham Hotspur, is the greatest center back in the world.

Even though their connection at the Argentine national team undoubtedly had a role, that was a rather significant comment from the Inter Miami star.

It appears that Victor Osimhen, a star for Napoli, is also giving Romero some really nice remarks these days. Those were posted on TVPlay and distributed by Il Messaggero.

When asked who defenders he has faced the hardest as a player, the Tottenham man was the first to come up.

Cristian Romero is Tottenham's most important individual, their hopes rest on him as much as Harry Kane

“I bring up two names. Romero, who is currently at Tottenham, is one of them. Osimhen remarked, “I recall his speed from his time at Atalanta.”

“Smalling also made an impression on me.”

Romero was a major investment for Tottenham when he was signed from Atalanta. He was initially loaned to them in 2021, and the following year, they paid €50 million to make the move permanent.

However, it appears that the cost was worthwhile because the player not only established himself in the Premier League but also with the national side, playing in Argentina’s World Cup-winning campaign last year.

Transfermarkt currently values him at €60 million, but it seems unlikely that he will go anywhere.

Aston Villa and Tottenham debate rages as Man United and Liverpool points made

After nine games, Aston Villa is currently ranked fifth in the Premier League table, demonstrating their strong start to the 2023–24 campaign.

The impact of Unai Emery has changed significantly since he started at Villa Park a year ago. After more than ten years, the Spaniard has led a team that was suffering near the bottom of the table to their first appearance in Europe.

Under a new management, other teams have experienced a rebirth besides Villa. A few months into his first season in charge, Tottenham in North London leads the table thanks in part to the similar influence of former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.

It’s debatable who will finish higher between Villa and Spurs this season, but one fan has made a strong case for why he believes Villa will finish the season ahead of Tottenham.

“I do think we’ll finish above United and maybe Spurs because I don’t think they’ve been tested yet properly, it depends if they keep their engine going,” Mason, a Villa supporter, stated on talkSPORT.

He said, “Man United are not a test at the moment and against Liverpool they got incredibly lucky due to a VAR decision,” in response to the question of whether Spurs had played Arsenal, Liverpool, or Man United. They would not have prevailed in that game, in my opinion. We will never be aware of it.

“I don’t know what makes you think that Spurs are more of an elite club than Villa, to be honest.”
