Geoffrey Boycott critisizes England cricket team’s for ‘disgusting’ performance

Geoffrey Boycott, a former cricket player for England, took a harsh stance against the English team for their poor performance in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. With ten teams competing in the global finale, the Jos Buttler-led team, the reigning champs, is looking at an early exit. In their most recent league match, England was defeated by Sri Lanka. With four losses and one victory in their last five games, they are presently wallowing in ninth place in the points standings.
Australia hopes to maintain its dominance over the world cup in 2023 with the ODI World Cup. a New Zealand England Cricket Team is criticized by boycotts Boycott attributed England’s poor performance analysis to the team’s lack of preparation, which he feels is a major contributing cause to their current problems. But the great cricket player did not assign the English skipper the bulk of the responsibility.

Buttler admitted that he had little control over the result as England lost to Sri Lanka in Bengaluru by eight wickets, seriously jeopardising their championship defence.
Head coach Matthew Mott has already expressed his defeat and pessimism on England’s future. Speaking for the Daily Telegraph, Boycott contended that England’s tardy arrival in India, more than a week ahead of the competition, was the cause of their lackluster showing. “History demonstrates that England rarely bats well in India where the ball spins,” the 83-year-old said. On flat fields, our guys are fine, but they get into trouble when the pitch turns. The easiest way to attempt to avoid that would have been for our team of athletes to travel to India ahead of schedule and participate in four or five exhibition games. How did England respond? Only two warm-up games should be scheduled; one should be rained out. Not well thought out.”
Boycotting the comparison between Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler Jos Buttler has failed to get the most out of his team, even after bringing eight players from the trophy-winning 2019 squad to the subcontinent – something Eoin Morgan brilliantly achieved four years prior. Boycott contends, however, that it is unfair to compare the two captains because of the different situations they encountered. He went so far as to draw attention to the challenges that Buttler has encountered, like as the unavailability of Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes’ early-season hip injury that kept him out of action for the first three matches.

Boycott believes Buttler has assembled a subpar team since the players were not well-selected or trained.
The group is unstable, with many players struggling with inconsistent play and faltering confidence in their responsibilities as well as unclear duties. Moreover, this season has seen the absence of England’s two most important white-ball players. “Even though Buttler has acknowledged his own shortcomings this tournament, too many people are criticizing his captaincy and comparing him to that of Eoin Morgan when England won the previous World Cup,” Boycott said in closing.

“There’s no denying that the absence of Archer is significant, especially considering that Stokes missed the first three games due to injury. Now, Reece Topley was forced to return home hurt. Leading a strong team with players that are on the rise is simple, but this group would require a miracle worker to bring them all together. It must be a nightmare, but Buttler won’t acknowledge it,” he said.
