When Rice was brought on as a second-half substitute at London Stadium, it’s safe to say that cheers for him overshadowed jeers.
Nonetheless, there was still evident respect between the two sides. And from what one of his former teammates has said, that was also the situation behind the scenes.
In addition to disclosing what Rice did in the West Ham locker room upon his return, Vladimir Coufal also made an odd remark regarding his move to Arsenal.
Speaking after the game, Coufal revealed Rice went into the Hammers dressing room to see his old teammates in a classy move.
“Rice is even better at Arsenal and deserves to be there.” The Hammers defender says.
However, the defender also expressed his peculiar belief that Rice “deserved” to join Arsenal and is performing even better there.
Coufal said on Sky Sports News last night, “He (Rice) went to our changing room to say ‘hello’ to us and ask how we are so we had a little chat with him.”
“He’s doing a fantastic job at Arsenal, and we all hope the best for him.” He deserves this transfer to Arsenal because he performed an amazing job here and finally lifted a trophy for West Ham after 50 years.
“I am unable to criticize him as he is an exceptional player who excels even more at Arsenal.”
It’s wonderful to hear that upon his return to the London Stadium, Rice treated his former team with such dignity.
Though some fans will find it annoying, Coufal said that he “deserves” the move and has become “even better” since joining the Gunners.
