Unbelievable!: Springboks ‘ignore’ Chiefs players during their trophy tour

Following the release of a video showing the Springboks “ignoring” the Kaizer Chiefs’ guard of honor at the FNB stadium on Thursday, social media users were left in stitches.

The Boks, who have now won the Webb Ellis Cup four times in their history, have started a national trophy tour.

Thursday was the start of the tour, which runs through Sunday in Pretoria.

The Springboks played their final game of the Gauteng tour on Thursday at the FNB Stadium, to the cheers of thousands of supporters.

The Glamour Boys received no handshake or recognition as the champions emerged from the tunnel, but the Kaizer Chiefs players offered them a guard of honor. To the delight of social media users who responded to the video after it went viral, the players hurried onto the field to greet the fans.

This weekend, Springboks will resume their triumphant tour.

Even soccer fans will find it difficult to identify the current starting eleven for Kaizer Chiefs, who have not won a championship in almost ten years. If the majority of the club’s players cannot be identified by fans alone, it is unlikely that any of the Chiefs stars will be known by the Springbok players.

“Until I read your quote, I had no idea that they were chief’s players there,” tweeted @Dominic27i.

“The Chiefs players also appear to be seeing real athletes for the first time in their lives!” stated @PabaleloMosima

During his speech to the crowd, Springbok captain Siya Kolisi acknowledged the Chiefs players.

“Seeing the Kaizer Chiefs family was a wonderful experience. I notice them in their gold and green attire.the winning colors of the new away uniform, which are love and peace,” he remarked.

The Springboks are scheduled to play at 11:30 on Friday in Cape Town, where they are anticipated to be greeted by a sizable crowd at the Grand Parade next to City Hall.

The bus route is set to begin just after 12:00 and will pass through the Cape Town CBD. It is planned for them to drive through Langa and Bonteheuwel starting at 14:30, and they will return to the city center at roughly 17:30.
